Community guidelines
Last updated 25 October 2026
Buddies is a quiet place to get things done alongside other people. These guidelines keep it that way. Everyone accepts them when they join, and they apply in every room, public or private.
Be kind
Assume good intent. People here work in different ways and at different speeds, and some days are harder than others. Encourage each other; don't judge, compare or correct how someone works.
Keep it calm
Rooms are for focus. Chat at the start, in breaks and at the end; during focus time, reactions only. No spamming, flooding the chat or shouting in capitals.
Respect privacy
Don't share anyone's personal details, your own included: no phone numbers, addresses or social media handles in public rooms.
What people say in a room stays in the room. Don't screenshot it or share it elsewhere.
No harassment or hate
No insults, threats, bullying or sexual content. Nothing that attacks people for who they are, including their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or the way their mind works.
No selling or recruiting
Buddies isn't for advertising, selling, fundraising, or inviting people to other apps, groups or services.
Support, not advice
Saying how you're doing is always welcome. But the people in your room aren't professionals, so please don't give or ask for medical or mental health advice.
If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency services.
Adults only
Buddies is for people aged 18 and over.
If something's wrong
Every person and every message has report and block. Blocking works straight away, and the other person isn't told.
Reports go to our moderators, who review the messages involved.
When the guidelines are broken
Depending on what happened, we may remove messages, send a warning, or suspend or close an account. Threats of violence, and any sexual content involving someone under 18, mean the account is closed straight away, and we may report it to the authorities.
When these change
If we change these guidelines in a way that matters, Buddies asks you to read and accept them again.
